Warning: NEVER BOOK HOTELS from Nusatrip!!

So.. here's the story..
Our family is planning to go to Yogyakarta for 4-days holiday from 25-29th December. We've booked our ticket from Garuda Indonesia website directly and no fuss on that.
Then it's time to book the hotel. I browsed all the international hotel website that we've used for many times and found a few hotels that are still available for those dates with reasonable price as well. But because I was quite busy with work, I haven't got time to book the hotel.

A few days later, my dad told my that my sister already booked Grand Aston hotel. Based on my browsing result in the international hotel websites, the price is around $100++.. so I asked my dad why he booked there as we're planning to book a hotel which price around $70 only. But he told me that my sister found this local website and the price in the website is Rp 700k/night. Good news, I thought. And what a rare local website to give that kind of low price......

But turns out... it's the start of our holiday nightmare.....

So, on 22nd Dec, I printed out the hotel voucher that my sister forwarded to my email. In the print out, I saw that one of the terms and conditions is the sentence "Free cancellation before 1 January 1970" and I laughed. But then I stopped laughing when I saw the booked dates are 25-29 JANUARY 2016, instead of 25-29 December 2015.

I immediately called my sister and told her this. She insisted that she punched December when she booked it. So after few yelling here and there, she contact the agent which is Nusatrip to change the dates. Turns out... they can't. They are just a broker. Not a legit agent. So we have to wait for their confirmation on whether it's possible to change date or not.
Oh, and that "Free cancellation before 1 January 1970"? Turns out that means "NO REFUND". What a subtle way to hide the message..... no hidden fees? More like straightforward a fraud!

After waiting hours of no callback from them, my sister called Grand Aston directly and asked about this. Turns out, from Grand Aston itself, they are okay with us cancelling the January booking and change it to December.. but they are full on 25-27th December so we're planning to book 27-29 Dec only, the rate is anyway twice the January rate.. so 4 nights become 2 nights.. eh...

Then we called Nusatrip again, they still insist that they haven't got confirmation. So we did a conference call with the hotel and they heard themselves that the hotel agree with either the cancellation or the date changes. After that, Nusatrip told us that they will call us back after they got confirmation from their agent and hotel.

Another hours spent waiting and still no callback from Nusatrip. We finally called them AGAIN, and they told us that they already sent email to hotel and are just waiting for a confirmation from hotel. Right after that, we called Grand Aston and asked them to check their email. Guess what..... there is NO EMAIL from Nusatrip!

Long story short, the last confirmation we got from Nusatrip is that we can change dates but to 27-31 December 2015 cause the couldn't change 4 nights to 2 nights. And the most idiotic part is that... we need to pay for another 5 millions to get that change because of the rate difference! What the F***!!! We insisted that we only need 2 nights as our flight back is on the 29th Dec anyway, but they keep telling us that it's not possible. I don't know any possible reason for them to reject our request.

Anyway...... this is truly a magnificently bad experience that we had with local travel website. I solely believe that we can't trust local travel website at all right now. They are still lack of experience, with bad and slow service and they don't have the power to change anything in case if there's any issue.

So... moral of the story: NEVER BOOK FROM NUSATRIP. Btw, my sister got directed to this website by triviaGo... so I think it's better as well for you not to get your recommendation from these websites.

Nusatrip SUCKS!!!

P.S: I'm planning to message their CEO: Hans Ebenhanh so at least he got a glimpse of how bad his business is.

Happy Couple, Happy Life

There are only 2 couples that I adore and acknowledged as the best couples among all people that I've known.

1. My cousin and her husband
Married in 2006 after years of dating in university, this couple shows me that marriage is not only for those who are desperate or want to have 'their own family'. Marriage is just something you do to be together with the one you love. This is what I want and they have it.

They took their time living in a house that just belong to both of them. They go out to eat and hang out every week. Both of them love books and so they have their special time of reading books together *how lovely is that*. The husband is also very caring and understanding. Knowing that my cousin can't cook, he never forces her to learn. He also clean the house quietly while she's reading books in the sofa *she's like me, when we're reading, we don't know what's happening around us*.

They traveled around the world freely. They enjoyed their time there and they make sure that they have the trip each year. They are both accountants so they know how to manage their money, but even I know.. that NOT having a kid is actually a bliss to those who like to travel around.

They also have this schedule of visiting their parents every month. One weekend for hers and another weekend for his. Not all married couple -who already have kids- even remember to visit their parents every month, no?

This year they are trying though.. you know.. to have kid. Well, after 8 years of having the world for only the both of them, I'm very happy to know that I have the chance to get a nephew/niece. Seeing how they enjoy their marriage life so much makes me wonder.. maybe getting married is not so bad. I just hope that having a kid won't reduce their happy-&-free-life.

2. Eat Your Kimchi couple - Martina and Simon
So I know about this couple through the wonderful world of YouTube. I was into Korean variety shows and somehow I found this channel called "EatYourKimchi" that is hosted by a Canadian married couple who's living in Seoul named Martina and Simon.
First I was just really like how they passed down their messages and their opinions on Korean weird stuff. But after watching them for months, I got to know their private life as well.. and it is inspiring.

Martina has a rare disease which made her joints extremely easy to get dislocated. So every time she wakes up, she'll most likely to feel pain all over her joints. Knowing this, Simon, her husband, will massage her every morning, makes her breakfast, take care of her without complaint. How much love do you feel here???
Simon on the other hand, was friendless since he was 16 and when he met Martina, he fell in love instantly but was in the friendzone. Though shortly after, he dated Martina and got married to her. He wrote in his 'Draw Your Life' video that he's still don't believe he can get Martina to get married to him, that he feels like she was being tricked but he'll try to make her happy every single day. Aaaaww....

One thing they were asked by the subscribers, how to have a happy marriage like them. To that, they answered.. "Marriage is like a career and not just an achievement. It's not like 'well, I got married, that's it, work done, I'm not going to work at it anymore." So they make an effort everyday on how to get their partner happy.
Another thing that hits as well is when they say, "We are married for 365 days a year, we're not just married 4 days a year. So it's not like it's my birthday, your birthday, Christmas day, Valentine's Day.. I'm gonna spend all this effort into making these days great for you and then be an asshole for the rest of the year!"

This is important, people!! This is what people should learn! Don't even ask "When will you get married.. you're so old now.. bla bla bla.." when you don't even have a glimpse of a truly happy marriage *married couple with kids! Bah! Somehow those people really like to spread misery to other people when we clearly can see how unhappy their life is.*

Anyway.. really somehow I feel happy just seeing this couple's video even when my relationship with Fugun is in a mess. If I can meet a man who's like this Simon person, man.... I'll be so loved for the rest of my life.
For those who wants to check their channel, go to YouTube and type "EatYourKimchi." Their FAP-FAP and WTF videos are very entertaining :D

A plan for my life

A late successful person once said, "Smart people plan too much when you don't need to plan anything. You don't need to have any target. Just be brave and do it." And though it worked well for him, I disagree with him.
With me, plan is my first priority in doing something. Yes, I do agree that when we plan too much without actually do it, it's useless. But if you just do something without any plan whatsoever, it's just plain dumb.

Imagine this, you invest everything you have on something. Yet you don't have any plan on what you want to do with it, you haven't done any analysis, checking or even have a back up plan if it fails. Well, you do have 50-50 chance of getting successful, but I'd say you might as well throw your money in the dumpster.

To be honest, I am more of a safety player than a risk taker. I'll never be a risk taker, that's why I need plan in whatever I do. But for me, it's proven to be the right thing to do.
Without any intention of being cocky, I'm actually quite proud of myself. Not all my friends have a life like mine and not all have plan in their life. They just "go with the flow" while I'm more on the "what next?"

In work, I have target to be in front. My life goal is to be a C-level job (with its well-matched salary, of course) before I reach that point where I feel that I have enough money to settle down. Which... yes.. I also have an exact value target of how much money I must have until I feel 'enough' (inflation rate calculated).
I consider myself lucky in this work area as I started my career without any difficulty -thanks to my dad-, and then I was scouted by some big companies and have the opportunity to prove that I have the skill to get by and not just because of 'my dad's power' like people used to say.
Now I have a great job with the most awesome work time that envied by my friends and family members. I'm working with people who I can honestly say they are the smartest in what they do. I've never seen any company who have this many smart people. Again, I'm very lucky to be able to learn from those people.

In relationship and family, I have a very standard target. To live together with Fugun. To be able to give back to my parents. To do little nice thing for Earth everyday.
No, I don't have to have kids or to have my 'own family' cause I already have it -"my own family", that is-. My parents and my sisters. They are enough for me. With Fugun by my side, why do I ever need to create another human that may or may not harm mother-Earth?

In life, I just want to travel. That's why all I need is enough money to settle down. Someday I'll die, as well as all creatures in this world. So why not make it worth while?
To work hard every single day because you need to save money for your kids -who, btw, are not guaranteed to be that perfect nice kids who care enough about their parent's hard work when they grow up- is absolutely not my plan (or dream) of living.

Well, some people have called me 'egoist' when I told them about my plans. But, when I see their current life, I don't see how their life is better than mine. Thus, I don't have any reason to give up my plans and follow their 'path'.
Also, I've heard many times where people told me "You can plan, but God will decide." Oh come on.. I'm sure 'God' has more important thing to do than caring about every little thing I do in my life.
Surely, those people also are the ones who said that my current job is the work of God. OK, THANKS. What can I say? I'll never be able to say anything logical to those kind of people, right? Religions can't be explain by logic (they said). Thus, logical explanations will not work with religious people.

I'm free, I'm healthy, I have my family, Fugun, and my close friends, I have enough to live. Those are my plans and I've achieved it. Enough said.

Adrenaline Rush Rides

Sebagai pecinta rides, terutama yg orang2 jarang mau naekin secara terlalu 'extreme', I have my own favorites. Jadi rides kaya 'It's a small world after all' ato versi Dufannya 'Istana Boneka' cuma naek kalo lagi kepanasan ato pas abis makan aja. Sisanya, musti dipake buat tereak2 dong, kapan lagi?!

So, in case ada yang blom pernah nyoba. Here are my recommendations:

1. Kora-kora: Dufan, Jakarta, Indonesia
Eh, tau2 begitu naek, malah ketagihan dong.

3. Tower of Terror: any Disneyland should have this ride
Like other rides in Disneyland, mereka punya cerita sebelum lo masuk ridenya. Supposedly supaya lebih ngeresep gitu naeknya.. tapi ya sebenernya supaya kita ga berasa lama aja ngantrinya, soalnya bisa 1-2 jam ngantri kalo lagi peak time.
Tradisi yang biasa gue lakukan abis naek Tower of Terror adalah beli foto after ride-nya. Tapi gue malah lagi menyipitkan mata gara2 silau ama matahari. Hahahahaha. Dudul banget emang.

4. Any kind of roller coaster: Any theme park
Roller coaster. Wajib. Kudu. Mesti.

* Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster: Warner Bros, Gold Coast, Australia

* Hollywood Dream: Universal Studio, Osaka, Japan
So... kita ga maen dehhhh.... hikssss (T_T)

* California Screamin': California Adventure Disney, Anaheim, California, USA

Uuuu..... jadi kepengen nih... Musti nabung banyak2 nih biar bisa keliling theme park dunia sebelom jantung melarang :p

So? Any thrill seeker out there can recommend me a ride worth going?

When he doesn't call you after a date..

Pacaran bertaon2, kalo ditanya ada yg beda apa ngga.. ya pasti ada lah ya. Misalnya kebiasaan Fugun yg dulu gue found "oo.. so cute" ato "ih imut deee", setelah bbrp taon jadi "ish, annoying banget sih" dan bbrp taon setelah itu "udalah..... kamu ngapain sih?" :p

Tapi kalo gue pikir2 yg paling berasa itu reaksi gue kalo ga ditelepon sama Fugun abis pulang ngedate:

Year 1: "Kok blom nelepon ya dia.. gpp kan ya dia di jalan.." *trus kirim WA 'kamu uda sampe rumah?' ato nelepon duluan*

Year 2 - 4: "Ga nelepon pasti ketiduran lagi deh dia!" *trus ngambek 2 hari - seminggu*

Year 5 - 7: *Ga nungguin telepon sama sekali*

Year 8 - 9: *cek WA, uda ada message 'uda sampe ya'* "Yang penting uda sampe rumah lah dia." *trus tidur*

Loncatannya emang lumayan jauh sih dari taon pertama sampe skarang. Yah, umur relationship gue sama Fugun emang uda uzur :p kalo kata temen kita, "Kalo umur pacaran lo tuh anak kecil, uda gede tuh..

I love how we can talk about anything and critic each other (termasuk soal ex-es, aib2, masalah keluarga, kerjaan, agama, de el el) and still walking side by side the next day with a smile.

Yes, we are an old married couple without the status and we like it that way

A conversation that should happened

"When will you get married?"
"When I want it."

"When will you have children?"
"When I want it."

"That is so selfish of you."
"What is so selfish about knowing what I want and controlling my own life?"

Say yes to adventure by the sip. New Strawberry Cheesecake Starbucsk Frappuccino ®.

GRETONG! FREE!
Sayangnya gue sama bokap gue kan emang bukan tipe yg napsuan ya, jadilah kita cuma pesen masing2 1 gelas chocolate frappuccino (ngaku fans Starbucks tapi kaga doyan kopi :p) walopun sebenernya kita bole pesen berapapun loh.

Gue pergi bareng Fugun. Begitu sampe, kita langsung dibagiin Caramel Earl Grey Green Tea Latte. Jujur sih gue seumur2 kaga pernah minum Latte (sumpah gue di Sbuck cuma pernah minum coklat doang) jadi rada2 norak pas minum hahaha. Tapi ternyata lumayan enak juga sih, walopun kalo disuru bayar mah gue ga bakal mesen ginian :p
Trus sajian keduanya Blueberry muffin. Berhubung gue kaga doyan buah, jadilah kita tolak muffinnya. Sayang sih, tapi daripada dibuang?

Sambil makan-minum, acaranya dimulai. Intinya sih mereka mau ngenalin menu2 baru buat Summer launch. Salah satunya Strawberry Cheese Cake Frappuccino yang uda mulai dijual bulan lalu. Again, karena ada Strawberrynya, gue ga minum.

Strawberry CheeseCake Frappuccino
Kumpulan Makanan n Minuman Gratis (kiri-kanan: Caramel Earl Grey Green Tea Latte; Orange Muffin; Strawberry CheeseCake Frappuccino)

Masalahnya gue aja berasa mabok loh abis minum tuh kopi + makan brownies Espressonya.. kok tuh anak kuat2 aja ya.

Abis acara kelar, kita dibolehin buat bawa pulang kue2 sama minuman yang masih sisa. Fugun bawa 1 blueberry muffin, 1 orange muffin sama 1 brownies. Gue sih bawa 1 orange muffin sama 3 brownies plus frappuccino yang blom keminum. Lumayan buat sarapan besok :D

Acara beginian sebenernya lumayan sih buat gaul2 dikit bak sosialista. Hahaha.

Eniwei, overall review sih (berdasarkan lidah Fugun), SCC frappuccinonya enak, orange muffinnya berasa kaya muffin biasa cuma ya kadang2 kalo kegigit jeruknya ya berasa manis-asem dikit lah.
